This exhibition stand at Intermat was used to showcase the range of engines and transmissions that JCB manufacture. It was used to illustrate that JCB excavators now use engines designed, engineered and manufactured by JCB, but also that they can provide their units for other manufacturers.
There were a number of key messages that they wanted to convey – their environmental credentials and the compactness of their engines to name two. Also the stand had to project the image of modernity and technological advancement, as well as the iconic JCB branding.
Our exhibition designers came up with a solution to this. On an exhibition the scale of Intermat, with enormous machines and stands to match, a subtle approach wasn’t going to work.
The concept of an ‘art gallery’ plinth with a giant lantern above each engine was used. The lantern would serve to get height into the stand, each side would feature an image of the product and a bold two word statement – getting the message across succinctly. The plinth appeared to float on a bed of coloured light, creating an interesting juxtaposition with the heavy product above.
